Tried a Blu-ray mfg same as my 1080p plasma. Slow to be ready and slow to load. Very slow and jerky when you choose to go forward or backward. Oppo units for all these issues resolved with 5 stars.
Even my process of Blu-ray has a very poor remote control - so bad that came with the TV … many small buttons. Was cumbersome entry and passage. Not all work TV functions, despite assertions to the contrary. The remote control has buttons Oppo less, so the tasks which are easy to apply. Plus, it has many other useful functions. Is not, turn on the TV or inmputs change. This is a "not want" a "must have".
I was surprised that the DVD player not on the best of my 2 years Sony Oppo. I think the picture and the sound of BRD were a little 'best drive of my process.
The price is high, but it is worth 2.5 times the price of hot-selling Blu-ray player that I tried. The Oppo is a keeper. I hope that the Oppo firmware and support product meets the high standards I expect.
